František Roman Dragoun se narodil 21. října 1916 v Písku. Absolvoval pražskou AVU, u Josefa Loukoty, Maxe Švabinského a Vratislava Nechleby. Jako klasicky orientovaný malíř maloval krajiny, zátiší, veduty a fantazie. Zhotovil i mnoho portrétů – ať už rodinných, či osobností (kardinálové Vlk, Beran, J. Wagner aj.).
